Tuesdays Take With Jay

Recently I have been giving my opinions on the current state of the Minnesota Twins and previews of the upcoming Minnesota Vikings season, but this week I have decided to switch it up and give a quick preview of the Minnesota Timberwolves upcoming season. The Timberwolves lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Houston Rockets after making the playoffs for the first time in 13 years last season. Even though they ended the playoff drought I still look at last season as a failure. The team has two guys who are legit superstars in Jimmy Butler and Karl Anthony-Towns, and another rising star in Andrew Wiggins. Which makes finishing as the 8th seed in the western conference an underwhelming finish. The team added multiple solid veterans last season as well in Taj Gibson, Jeff Teague, and Jamal Crawford. All of which are guys who know how to win in the NBA.

The team didn’t change much this offseason, they let Jamal Crawford go in free agency and added veteran forward Anthony Tolliver. They also drafted two guys in Josh Okogie and Keita Bates-Diop, both of whom are promising but probably won’t get too much playing time for coach Tom Thibadeau. I don’t think the team did enough this offseason, they needed to add three-point shooting and they didn’t do enough to address that need.

I hope the Timberwolves have a strong season but would be very surprised if they made a serious push in the playoffs.
