In the past week, the Minnesota twins have unloaded four players in an attempt to get young prospects and rebuild. Some of the players have been harder to see leave than others, like utility man Eduardo Escobar who’s been a fan favorite in Minnesota for his outgoing personality and sense of humor. The Twins traded him to the Diamondbacks last week in exchange for three promising prospects. They also traded reliever Ryan Pressly to the Astros, reliever Zach Duke to the Mariners and starter Lance Lynn to the Yankees.
I’m completely fine with these moves and believe the Twins front office is doing the right thing. As I talked about a couple weeks ago, not much has gone right for the Twins this year so it might be time to start focusing on next year and beyond. They have a young core they can build around with guys like Eddie Rosario, Max Kepler, Jorge Polanco and Jose Berrios.
Don’t be surprised if Brian Dozier gets traded at some point today as well.
