Minnesota State University-Mankato Alumni Adam Thielen was featured on NFL Network’s top 100 players list Monday night. This comes as no surprise to fans who have watched him make outstanding catches all year long. The wide receiver had 1,276 yards and 4 touchdowns this season and also made his first pro bowl. It’s a really humbling story because Thielen was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota before going to school at Minnesota State University-Mankato on a minimal athletic scholarship. After college, he had to pay for a tryout before getting noticed by the Vikings and eventually signed with the team as an undrafted free agent. Thielen has had an underdog story with him his whole athletic career.
The top 100 players list is a series put together by NFL Network every year and voted on by NFL players. As a Vikings fan, it’s really cool to see a Minnesota native being honored for his play for his hometown team. Thielen is the sixth Vikings player to be featured on the list along with Kirk Cousins, Linval Joseph, Stefon Diggs, Xavier Rhodes and Harrison Smith.
