Minnesota State finished second at the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Golf Championships.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament was held at Paradise Point in Smithville, Mo.
The Mavericks combined to shoot 312 Sunday and completed the three rounds of the Championship with a total of 944. Augustana won its ninth consecutive league title witha combined score of 944. The University of Sioux Falls placed third at 977. There were 12 teams and 60 individuals competing at the event.
Minnesota State junior Haley Tollette registered a round of 74 Sunday and with her final score of 231 (77-80-74–231), finished tied for second as the top Maverick individual at the tournament.
Freshman Maddy Messin carded a round of 81 today and with her combined score of 234 tied for fourth in the individual standings.
Senior Genie Short (80-86-76-165) tied for 12th. Freshman Alissa Carlson (81-83-81–245) tied for 16th place and sophomore Maddy Schintz (88-78-81-247) tied for 20th.

With the NSIC tournament championship, Augustana receives and automatic bid to the NCAA postseason tournament. The entire field for the 2018 NCAADII Women’s Golf Championships will be announced Monday, April 30 on NCAA.com. Four, 54-hole Super Regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the participants in the championships finals. Twelve teams and six individuals, not on those teams, will compete at each Super Regional. The low three teams and the low three individuals, not on those teams, will advance to the finals.
The NCAA Championships will be held May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston Tex.
