North Shore Park Madison Lake, MN: The iconic Minnesota State University ice contest known as the “Big Bobber” will move forward under the new name and structure of the “ Humminbird® Mad Bobber® Ice Contest presented by Otter®” at the fishing themed town of Madison Lake, MN on Feb 10, 2018; Noon to 3 PM.
The contest will be hosted by the Madison Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. “This event is designed to celebrate Madison Lakes’ longstanding tradition of ice fishing and our year-round commitment to being an outdoor friendly community”, said Madison Lake Mayor Ken Reichel. “We invite all, near and far, to come and fish with us and to enjoy our renowned lakes and outdoor resources”. Contest officials indicate that this year’s newly formatted event will be held on Madison Lake and that contestants will be able to participate in the event on the entire lake in wheel houses, portable houses or open-air fishing abiding by 2018 MN DNR fishing guidelines.
Only fish caught during the Noon to 3 PM contest hours are available for entry. Event headquarters will be located at North Shore Park and access. “Mad Zones” can be scheduled with pre-drilled holes for corporate, instructional, themed, group or social gatherings. Over $10,000.00 in prizing to be awarded. Entry fee for fishing is $20.00 for adults and $5.00 for age 15 and under.
Additional group packages are available. Access to all Mad Bobber non-fishing events areas is Free. Prizes will be awarded in five species specific categories (Walleye, Northern, Bass (LM, White), Panfish (Crappie, Sunfish, Perch) and an all-inclusive category that includes non-listed species indigenous to Madison Lake. Additionally, twenty-five prizes will be awarded as door prizes. Fifty prizes will be awarded all-together. Raffles and other promotions will also be offered.
Pre-registration is encouraged and will be available online until 10 PM CST Feb 9, 2018 along with contest rules and details at madbobber.com. Additionally, defined access points will be staffed for registration the day of the event and supplied with contest information from 9 AM-1 PM (no tickets will be sold after 1 PM on the day of the event).
Multiple weigh stations will be positioned around the lake during contest hours for contestants to conveniently register their catch.
Awards and door prizes will be announced at 4 PM at the contest headquarters location at North Shore Park.
