A new #1: MSU Football takes top spot in latest AFCA Poll

The Minnesota State football team has earned the #1 ranking in the most recent edition of the AFCA Poll.

MSU, which was ranked third in last week’s poll, improved two spots after defeating Winona State 27-6 last weekend at Blakeslee Stadium. This is the first time Minnesota State has been ranked No. 1 in the AFCA poll since week eight of the 2015 season.

The Mavericks are one of three NSIC schools ranked in the top-25 poll. Sioux Falls moved up to 13th after defeating Augustana 21-14, while Winona State fell to 18th.

Minnesota State continues is season this Saturday as it hosts the Wayne State Wildcats at Blakeslee Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
