Minnesota State sophomore wide receiver Shane Zylstra has been named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts this past weekend at Minnesota Duluth.
A native of Spicer, Minn., Zylstra caught eight passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns on the road against the Bulldogs last weekend. His 204 receiving yards were the third-most in a game in program history. He is also the first Maverick to catch at least three touchdown passes in a game since Dorian Buford did so against MSU Moorhead back in 2014.
Zylstra is the first Maverick to receive NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honors since Nick Pieruccini received the honor after week three of the 2016 season. Last week, junior Casey Bednarski was named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week. His 204 receiving yards and three touchdown catches are both game-highs in the NSIC this season.
