Minnesota State Football ranked eighth in latest AFCA poll

The Minnesota State football team has been ranked eighth in the most recent edition of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Poll.

MSU improved four spots in the poll after defeating Minnesota Crookston 56-19 last weekend at Blakeslee Stadium. This is the highest ranking MSU has received in the AFCA poll since week one of the 2016 season when it was ranked sixth.

The Mavericks are one of three NSIC schools ranked in the top-25. Sioux Falls improved to the seventh spot, while Minnesota Duluth moved up to the 20th spot. USF defeated Northern State 37-7 at home last weekend, while UMD bested Upper Iowa 33-21 on the road. Both Winona State and Bemidji State are receiving votes.

Minnesota State continues its season on the road this Saturday as it takes on Minnesota Duluth. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
