Minnesota State junior kicker Casey Bednarski has been named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend against Minnesota Crookston.

A native of Oconomowoc, Wis., Bednarski scored 16 points in MSU’s 56-19 win over Minnesota Crookston at Blakeslee Stadium, which included a 4-of-4 showing in field goal attempts. Bednarski also set an MSU and NSIC record with a 63-yard field goal at the end on the second quarter.

Bednarski, who also connected on field goals from 36, 50, and 27 yards out, went 2-of-2 in extra point attempts and ran in a two point conversion. He is also the first Maverick to  connect on four field goals in a game since Sam Brockshus did so against Concordia-St. Paul during the 2013 season. He is the first Maverick to receive the award since Anders Gelecinskyj claimed the honor last season.

#12 Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday as it travels to #21 Minnesota Duluth. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
