Mavericks Ranked 16th in Poll

The Minnesota State football team has been ranked 16th in the preseason poll.

The Mavericks are one of four NSIC schools ranked in the top-25. Minnesota Duluth sits in the eighth spot in the poll. Sioux Falls is ranked right in front of the Mavericks in the 15th spot, with Bemidji State following right behind in the 17th spot.

MSU finished its 2016 season with an 8-3 record and was not ranked in the final poll of the season. The last time the Mavericks were ranked in the poll came during week four of the 2016 season when they ranked 16th.

Senior Erik Fuller was named to the Preseason All-American Second Team. During the 2016 season, Fuller played in all 11 games for the Mavericks as he caught 33 passes for 319 yards and a team-leading 10 touchdown catches. Fuller caught at least one touchdown pass in six of MSU’s final seven games last season as he went on to claim All-NSIC First Team honors.

Minnesota State opens its 2017 season on Thursday, Aug. 31, as it takes on the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Poll (Preseason)
