Blair Walsh Speaks, ‘That kick’s not going to define me’

We remember our beloved kicker on the Vikings, Mr. Blair Walsh. We also may remember “on a frigid day on Jan. 9, 2016, Walsh hooked a 27-yard field-goal attempt left with 22 seconds remaining in Minnesota’s 10-9 playoff loss to Seattle at TCF Bank Stadium.”

He never seemed to be able to make up for that kick, but he’s doing what he can to keep his head up. “It’s part of what I’ve done. It’s a very small part, and that’s how I like to treat it. That kick’s not going to define me.”

“And now, Walsh plays for the Seahawks, of all teams. His next assignment: kicking against the visiting Vikings in a preseason game Friday night.”

He signed a “nonguaranteed” $800,000 contract with the Seahawks with a bonus of $300,000 if he makes the 53-man roster.

Starting off in their preseason game against the Chargers, the Seahawks were able to witness Walsh score all 8 of his kicks. Maybe he will have a turnaround.

Let’s see if he can redefine himself in his new position. No pressure, Walsh. No pressure.
