Sounds like former Viking Matt Kalil is getting comfortable…

The Charlotte Observer wrote a story on “the 28-year-old left tackle” after he “raved about getting to play for Panthers offensive line coach John Matsko.” Kalil said Matsko is “The first guy I’ve played for that kind of demands excellence from his offensive line room,”

Taking a jab at Vikings line coaches Jeff Davidson and Tony Sparano, some of the current Vikings had a word or two as a response to the news:

“We have had great coaches here,” right guard Joe Berger said. “That’s something a guy says at a new place just to say it.”

“I know that every coach that I’ve ever played for or been around demands excellence,” tight end Kyle Rudolph added.

The Pioneer Press had a response to Kalil’s thoughts on the Vikes. Like that he shouldn’t be jabbing at them when his career with them may have made him “bitter” after “[taking] No. 4 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft and making the Pro Bowl as a rookie.” And “The rest of his time in Minnesota [being] inconsistent and defined by injuries.”

In the meantime we’ll see how well Riley Rieff fills Kalil’s spot on the Vikings.
