Serena Williams Talks About Gender Wage Gap

American tennis star Serena Williams is telling women, especially black women, to demand pay equality.

In a personal essay that Williams wrote, published by Fortune Magazine, she acknowledges that black women make 63 cents to every dollar a man earns.

Even though Williams is the world’s highest-paid female athlete, according to Forbes, she is only 51st on the overall list. Leaving her far behind ATP Tour contemporaries Roger Federer, Novak Djkovic, Kel Nishikori, Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray.

Previously Williams has had to defend how much female players earn at Grand Slam tournaments. Williams hopes to eliminate the gender wage gap and help women find their voice.
