The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they would be extending wide receiver Adam Thielen’s contract for three years. This means that Thielen will be on the team until at least 2020. The deal is worth as much as $27 million with $11 million guaranteed.
The former Mankato Maverick led the Vikings in receiving yards, with 967, last season. He had 69 catches and 5 touchdowns as well.
Thielen is from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and was able to make the Vikings 53-man roster in 2014 as a walk-on. Ever since then, he has become a very important part of the roster. Last season, Thielen played in all 16 games and started 10 of them on offense. He also had three games with over 100 receiving yards. He may just be a walk-on, but he is playing better than some of those who were actually drafted.
If the Vikings want to have good teams during the upcoming seasons, Adam Thielen is a player that they want to keep around. It is a good thing they did.
