Gophers Going For 6 In A Row In Conference Play

The Minnesota Gophers travel to Maryland to take on the 24th ranked Terrapins. The Gophers are going into the game with an overall record of 20-7. They are 8-6 in conference play. The Terrapins are 22-5 with a conference record of 10-4. The Gophers however have been playing better basketball of late winning the last 5 games in conference play. Terrapins have lost 3 of the last 5 in conference play.

Not saying this is a must win for the Gophers but it would be a nice solid win to put on their resume for entering the NCAA tournament come March. As of right now its unsure whether or not the Gophers would make the tournament. With an on the road conference win against a ranked opponent would definitely help the Gophers chances.

The players to watch for Minnesota are point guard Nate Mason who is the leading scorer for the Gophers and Jordan Murphy who gives the gophers presence in the post with his scoring and rebounding ability. For the Terrapins it’s Melo Trimble the leading scorer for the Terrapins. The Gophers can’t let Trimble beat them. The Terrapins offensive goes through Trimble and the Gophers need to limit his production.

The last time these two teams met was in Minnesota on January 28th, Maryland got a 85-78 win at the barn. Gophers look to get an upset on the road and improve their chances of making it to the big dance. The tip is at 7:30 and can be seen on BTN.
