It has been what seems like an eternity since we’ve seen the Wild on the ice. Saturdays win over Nashville (5-2) continued to give the Wild momentum going into tonight’s big game against Chicago. The Wild are looking to avenge their overtime loss against the hawks and in doing so, have the most points in the league. That’s right, the Wild are one point behind the Washington Capitols who do not have a game tonight. A win over the Blackhawks tonight would secure the Wild with the most points in the league for the time being.
Minnesota comes into tonight’s game with a seven-point lead over the Blackhawks, so no matter what happens this evening, the Wild will still be in first place in the Central Division when its bye week ends Monday. Even so, a win tonight would be huge for the Wild on a vast array of levels.
Tonight’s game will not be easy, however. While Minnesota is still waiting for its first player to breach the twenty-goal mark, Chicago has three forwards who have already reached that number. Artem Anisimov recently joined Kane and Hossa in that club. If there is a team for Minnesota to worry about in the West as it heads into the stretch run and the playoffs, Chicago is definitely still the Wild’s biggest hurdle.
