The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t been relevant in the NBA since the Kevin Garnett era. The wolves are 48 games into the regular season and this is the first time in quite awhile they have been this far into a season and still in position to make the playoffs. The team is just 2 games back from the 8th seed in the western conference playoff standings. Which is currently held by the Denver Nuggets. The wolves winning 8 of there last 11 games is a big reason the team is in the position that they are.
Yes, the 8th seed in the western conference right now is set to play the very talented Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. No team seems to stand a chance against the Warriors in the first round. For Timberwolves fans that’s besides the point. The Timberwolves haven’t made the playoffs since the 2004 season. It would be nice to get back into the playoffs and give the young team a taste of playoff basketball and potentially build upon that moving forward.
With the team winning 8 of the last 11 it seems that they have figured something out. However there are still in trade talks of sending Rubio out the door. A trade that would also send Shabazz Muhammad with him.
As a Wolves fan who follows them closely trading away Shabazz wouldn’t be in the best interest of the team. As he is the only one that can score points off the bench on a regular basis.
The wolves are in for a huge test tonight as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers. Even though the Cavs are a struggling basketball team right now they still have the big three: James, Irving Love. Game starts at 6 pm and can be seen on Fox Sports North.
