The Minnesota Timberwolves traveled to Phoenix last night to take on the Suns. The wolves managed to escape, with a 112 – 111 victory. The win however didn’t come easy, in fact, the outcome of the game was decided in the last few seconds.
Andrew Wiggins of the Timberwolves received an inbound pass with 6.3 seconds left with the team down 1. He was defended by Tucker of the Suns. Wiggins looked to drive to the rim but Tucker wouldn’t allow it. Wiggins almost looses the basketball, he regains it and eventually rises above the defending Tucker, with under 1.5 seconds left to knock down a mid-range jump shot to win the game. The basket was reviewed than confirmed, with no time remaining on the clock.
Wiggins led all scoring with 31 points on 11-22 shooting from the field. Towns was second in scoring with 18 and Muhammad contributed a much needed 16 points off the bench.
With Rubio likely out the door, rookie Kris Dunn needs to step up and play better basketball. Dunn Struggled last night once again scoring only 2 points and only having 2 assist with 5 turnovers.
The Timberwolves have a night off before taking on the Indiana Pacers at home on January 26th.
