Minnesota State women’s soccer is ranked 19th in the postseason edition of the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, as announced by association officials on Tuesday.
The Mavericks earned the 19th spot in the poll by finishing 2016 with a 16-3-3 (12-2-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) record. Minnesota State reached the second round of the 2016 NCAA DII Women’s Soccer Tournament.
The top five teams in the poll are: the national champion No. 1 Western Washington (24-0-1), No. 2 Grand Valley State (23-2-1), No. 3 Columbus State (21-3-0), No. 4 Kutztown (20-5-0) and No. 5 Central Missouri (21-2-0).
Minnesota State is the only NSIC member institution represented in the top 25. Minot State is receiving votes.
