Minnesota State junior guard Charlie Brown has been named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week for his efforts in MSU’s two wins last weekend.
A native of Joplin, Mo., Brown averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game last weekend, while shooting 59.3% from the field. Against Seattle Pacific, Brown scored a team-high 22 points, behind an 8-of-16 (.500) showing from the field. He then finished the weekend scoring a team-leading 24 points, on an 8-of-11 (.727) performance from the field against Central Washington. He also hauled in six rebounds against CWU and received tournament MVP honors.
This is the first time that Brown has received the NSIC South Division Player of the Week award. He is the second Maverick to receive the award this season, with senior Jon Fuqua receiving the honor last week.
The Mavericks continue their season Saturday as they travel to St. Cloud State. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
