Sophomore goaltender Katie Bidulka has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by WCHA officials on Tuesday afternoon.
Bidulka (2-4-0) earned the honor by compiling a 1-1-0 record against Ohio State over the weekend, while stopping 44-of-47 shots on goal for a .936 save percentage. She made 21 saves in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Ohio State — the first WCHA victory for Minnesota State since a 5-1 home win over St. Cloud State on Feb. 2, 2015. Bidulka recorded a WCHA-leading 1.50 goals-against average over the weekend.
It is the first time that Bidulka has earned a WCHA weekly award.
The Mavericks next face non-conference opponent Lindenwood for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday at Verizon Wireless Center. Both games are scheduled for a 2:07 p.m., puck drop.
