Eight Maverick football players receive All-NSIC Honors

The Minnesota State football team saw eight student-athletes receive NSIC South Division All-Conference honors.

A total of five Mavericks claimed NSIC South Division All-Conference First Team accolades, including two on offense and three on defense.

Junior defensive backs Corey Brent and Larry Moore each received an Honorable Mention.

The Mavericks finished their 2016 season with an 8-3 record.

#7 Ruben Ibarra: Senior linebacker Ruben Ibarra started all 11 games for the Mavericks this past season. Ibarra led MSU with 92 tackles, to go along with seven tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. Ibarra recorded more than 10 tackles in three games last season, including a season-high 13 against Bemidji State.

#21 Mat Andriano: Senior Mat Andriano played in all 11 games this past season, including 10 starts. Andriano finished third on the team in tackles with 75. He also recovered two fumbles and defended eight passes.

#48 Marcus Gooden: Senior linebacker Marcus Gooden started all 11 games this past season. Gooden finished second on the team in tackles with 80. He also recorded three tackles for a loss and two sacks.

#60 Sam Schrauth: Sophomore Sam Schrauth started all 11 games for the Mavericks on the offensive line. Schrauth helped the Mavericks rush for 1,865 yards and 14 touchdowns this past season.

#85 Ty Dennis: Junior Ty Dennis started in 10 games as a wide receiver this past season. Dennis led the Maverick receiving corps with 39 catches for 630 yards. He more than 100 yards in two games this past season, including a season-high 111 yards against Winona State.

#89 Erik Fuller: Junior Erik Fuller played in all 11 games for the Mavericks this past season, including five starts. Fuller caught a total of 33 passes for 319 yards and a team-leading 10 touchdowns. Fuller caught two touchdown passes in three games this past season as well.

#90 Zach Dodge: Sophomore Zach Dodge started in all games this past season on the defensive line. Dodge finished his season with 40 tackles. He also finished tied for the team-lead in sacks with 8.5 and second on the team in tackles for loss with 12.5. In three of his final four games, Dodge tallied at least two sacks.

#92 Evan Perrizo: Junior Evan Perrizo started in all 11 games on the defensive line this past season. Perrizo tallied a team-leading 13.5 tackles for loss and tied for the team-lead in sacks with 8.5. Against Winona State, Perrizo notched four tackles for a loss, including two sacks.
