Minnesota State senior forward Jon Fuqua has been named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week for his efforts against Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern State last weekend.
A native of Maywood, Ill., Fuqua averaged 20.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in MSU’s two games last weekend, while shooting 85.7% (18-of-21) from the field. Against PSU, Fuqua recorded a team-leading 23 points and nine rebounds to open the weekend. He finished the weekend recording his eighth career double-double as he posted 18 points and 11 rebounds against Missouri Southern State.
This is the second time Fuqua has been named the NSIC South Division Player of the Week, and first time this season. Fuqua received his first accolade last season after averaging 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds against Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls.
Minnesota State continues its season in Seattle, Wash., on Friday as it takes on Seattle Pacific. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
