Minnesota State freshman Anders Gelecinskyj has been named the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in MSU’s 41-30 win over Wayne State last week.
Gelecinskyj is the first Maverick to receive the NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week award this season and the first since Alden Haffar received the honor during the 2015 season.
A native of Bloomington, Minn., Gelecinskyj connected on both of his field goal opportunities from 21 and 32 yards out. He also went 5-of-5 in extra point attempts and scored 11 points.
The Mavericks conclude their regular season schedule Saturday as they host Upper Iowa at Blakeslee Stadium. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
