Sophomore Morgan Seemuth was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by conference officials on Monday.
Seemuth earned the honor by playing all 270 minutes as the Mavericks garnered three shutout victories on the road last week. The Maverick defense held its opponents to nine shots on goal combined over the three matches. Minnesota State defeated Concordia-St. Paul 1-0 on Wednesday, MSU Moorhead 2-0 on Saturday and Northern State 2-0 on Sunday. Seemuth has started in each of the Mavericks’ last six games — all shutout victories.
It is the first time that Seemuth has earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Mavericks face No. 13 Minot State at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday at The Pitch.
