The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners on Monday afternoon. The women’s soccer team recently had two student-athletes selected for their performances over the past week.
Earning Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week was Vikings goalkeeper, Averi Cash (Ottumwa, Minn.) Along with Cash, Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn.) was named Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Cash helped the Bethany women’s soccer team to a 3-0 record this past week. The junior picked up back-to-back shutouts against Martin Luther, followed by a 2-1 victory over league-leading St. Scholastica. In those three contest, Cash tallied 24 saves with a save percentage of .958. The keeper has recorded five shutout this season which is currently tied for the single season school record.
Moldstad helped the Bethany women’s soccer team secure a berth in the 2016 UMAC Postseason Tournament this past week by recording two goals and an assist. The junior scored the game-winning goal in the programs first win over St. Scholastica on Saturday. On the season, the forward has netted eight goals while contributing to the offensive attack with five assists. Moldstad currently ranks second in Vikings career records with 28 total goals in her career.
The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated by UMAC coaches and sports information directors. The awards are published each Monday afternoon.
