Vikings soar to victory over Knights in Women’s Soccer

Coming off a 1-0 overtime victory against Martin Luther on Tuesday afternoon, the Bethany women’s soccer team returned to the pitch on Thursday night hosting Martin Luther in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match-up. The Vikings defeated the Knights 3-0 to improve to 7-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference action.

Bridget Brown (North Mankato, Minn.) scored the overtime goal on Tuesday afternoon to propel the Vikings to victory. On Thursday night, Brown scored the first goal of the contest in the seventh minute to put the Vikings on the scoreboard.

In the second half of play, Lydia Wildauer (Port Washington, Wis.) extended the Vikings lead to two goals with a shot from just outside the box. With 58 seconds remaining, Nicole Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn.) capitalized on a penalty kick to secure the 3-0 victory for Bethany.

Junior goalkeeper, Averi Cash (Ottumwa, Iowa) finished the 90 minute conference game with 10 saves in goal.

On Saturday the Vikings will play St. Scholastica is another UMAC contest. Scheduled start time is set for 1p.m.
