Minnesota State freshman Bryce Thompson has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.
The Chisago Lakes, Minn., native fired rounds of 76, 70 and 72 for a total of 218 to finish five-over-par at the Holiday Inn Express Classic earlier this week. Minnesota State’s top individual at the event, Thompson finished in a tie for eighth at the 54-hole, 20-team tournament, which took place in St. Joseph, Mo. As a team, the Mavericks finished ninth
This marks the first time in Thompson’s collegiate career he has earned NSIC Men’s Golfer of the Week honors. He ranks second on the team with a 75.0 average and has seen action in 13 rounds in his first year with the Mavericks.
The Mavericks are scheduled to close out the fall part of their 2016-17 season with the Lindenwood Invitational Oct. 17-18 in St. Charles, Mo.
