Varlamov stops 30 shots to help Avalanche beat Wild 2-0 in exhibition

Semyon Varlamov stopped 30 shots to help the Colorado Avalanche beat the Minnesota 2-0 in exhibition play.

Chris Bigras and Carl Soderberg scored 1:13 apart midway through the second period for the Avalanche on Tuesday night. The Avalanche were playing in their final exhibition contest at home

Darcy Kuemper started for the Wild and finished with 13 saves through the first two periods. Alex Stalock stopped all four shots he faced in the third.

Varlamov has stopped 63 of 64 shots he’s faced in preseason play. That included denying 33 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday.
