Viking Volleyball downed by Martin Luther 3-2

The Bethany volleyball team returned to their home court on Tuesday night when they faced Upper Midwest Athletic conference rival, the Martin Luther Knights, looking for their fifth win in a row. It took all five sets for the Knights to defeat the Vikings as they won by a score of 3-2.

On the attack Bethany was led by Freshman Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) as she recorded 19 kills. Rachel Sorensen (Windom, Minn.) was close behind her as she amassed 16 kills. Jasmine Carlson (Windom, Minn.) set the Vikings up with a total of 48 assists.

On the defensive side Anna Nelson (Cannon Falls, Minn.) collected 28 digs for the Vikings. Kristen Mielke (New Germany, Minn.) and Carlson each had five total blocks for Bethany.

The Vikings will now welcome the Saints from St. Scholastica to the Sports and Fitness Center on Friday night for a 7 p.m. UMAC volleyball match.
