The Minnesota State men’s golf team finished seventh at the MSSU Fall Invitational which was held at the Shangri-La Country Club in Monkey Island, Okla., the last two days.
The tournament is the third event of the 2016-17 campaign for the Mavericks.
Minnesota State combined to shoot rounds of 304, 304 and 299, with their 907 total placing them 47 strokes behind the tournament champions from Central Oklahoma (860). There were 12 teams at the tournament.
Junior Kelton Schmitz (75-73-78–2224) was Minnesota State’s top individual at the 54-hole tournament as he finished in a tie for 26th. Freshman Bryce Thompson (75-78-73–226) tied for 29th, while sophomore J.J. Svac (76-81-71–227) was 35th, junior Jacob Cooper (81-73-79–233) tied for 46. Freshman Ethan Kraus (78-85-79–242, tied for 59th).
Minnesota State is the J.R. Watkins Invitational, Oct. 3-4, at The Jewell in Lake City, Minn.
