Minnesota State’s women’s cross country team turned in a fifth-place result at the St. Olaf Invitational held in Northfield, Saturday.
The 23-team, 6K event was held at the St. Olaf Trails.
Junior Erin Baker (23:28.0) placed 12th as the top Maverick individual at the event. SophomoreLily Paul (23:57.0) placed 28th and sophomore Megan Serratore (23:58.0) was 29th. paced the Mavericks (17:46.34). Junior Megan Allen (24:13.0) finished 38th. Freshman Carisa Weyenberg (24:17.0) was 40th, while sophomore Josie Braaten (24:23.0) was 45th and junior Haley Kruger (24:49.0) finished 67th. Other Maverick individuals competing included freshman Josie Heeren (24:50.0, 80th), freshman Bobbi Patrick (24:56.0, 85th), freshman Jaylynn Lauer (25:20.0, 110th), sophomore Allyson Daines (25:29.0, 121st), junior Mariah Betzler (25:39.0, 126th), freshman Katie Anderson (26:16.0, 169th), sophomore Jessica Boespflug (26:55.0, 207th), sophomore Mackenzie Dockendorf (27:14., 223rd), freshman Hilary Swanson (29:24.0, 309th) and junior Becca Ohotto (30:30.0, 337th).
Minnesota Duluth tallied 28 points in claiming the team title, while the Mavericks combined for 147 points.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire paced the 20-team and the Mavericks tallied 126 points in placing sixth.
Sophomore Caleb Burke finished with a time of 26:11.0 in placing a Maverick-best 11th at the meet. Freshman Austin Yardley (26:38.0) was 24th and sophomore Steven Erredge (26:40.0) finished 26th. Other Maverick individuals and their finishes included senior Brendan Gessner(26:53.0, 29th), sophomore Derek Cruz (227:06.0, 36th), sophomore Austin Pasch (27:36.0, 48th), freshman Isaiah Rabata (28:28.0, 80th), junior Derek Finsterwalder (29:58.0, 177th) and sophomore Michael Hoff (30:10.0, 179th).
Next action for the Maverick Cross Country teams is Sept.24 when they compete at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
