MSU Woman’s Golf captures Tracy Lane Memorial Tournament title

Led by sophomore Abbe Partington, the Minnesota State women’s golf team captured the Tracy Lane Memorial title held in Bemidji Sunday and Monday.

The Mavericks combined to shoot 645 in finishing 17 strokes in front of second-place Concordia-St. Paul. There were nine teams at the tournament, which was played at Bemidji Town & Country Club.

Partington claimed medalist honors for the first time as a collegian in shooting rounds of 82 and 74 for a 36-hole total of 157. Freshman Maddy Schintz, who was making her debut for the Mavericks, shot 76-82–158 in finishing a stroke behind Partington for second place. Other Minnesota State individuals included junior Genie Short (86-80–166, tied for tenth), sophomore Madison Jewell (84-82–166, tied for tenth), freshman Kayla Thielen (84-85–169 ied for 14th), sophomore Nattiya Somboonsup (85-85–170, tied for 16th) and junior Haley Tollette(84-88–172, tied for 21st).

Next action for the Mavericks is the Winona State Triangular Sept 18-19 in Sparta, Wis., at the River Run Golf Course.
