Maverick football climbs up to sixth spot in AFCA Poll

The Minnesota State football team has improved to the sixth spot in the latest edition of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll.

MSU moved up one spot in the poll after it defeated Minot State 35-7 last week on the road.

The Mavericks are the highest rated NSIC team in the poll. Sioux Falls moved up to the 17th spot, while Augustana jumped to the 21st spot. Minnesota Duluth, which fell out of the poll this week, is receiving votes along with Southwest Minnesota State and Bemidji State.

Minnesota State opens the home portion of its schedule Saturday evening at Blakeslee Stadium as it hosts Bemidji State at 6:00 p.m. Catch the game on The Fan Mankato AM 1230 and FM 103.1.
