The Minnesota Vikings will practice today at U.S. Bank Stadium, their new $1.1 billion home set to debut on Sunday for the preseason game against San Diego.

Minnesota product Marcus Sherels is beginning his 7th season in the NFL without the assurance he’ll get a roster spot with the Vikings. He long ago showed his sure-handedness as a punt returner after starting out in 2010 as an undrafted local invited to rookie camp on a tryout basis. Sherels doesn’t acknowledge that he has any worries, however, saying it’s the coaches’ job to decide the roster with his lone job to “come in and compete.”
