Maverick Women’s Cross Country Picked to Finish Seventh in NSIC Preseason Poll

The Minnesota State women’s cross country team has been picked to finish seventh in the NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Minnesota State received 123 points to claim the seventh spot in the poll. Minnesota Duluth topped the poll with five first-place votes and 185 points. Augustana and the University of Mary each finished second in the poll with 181 points and five first-place votes, while Winona State (4th/154 points) and MSU Moorhead (5th/141 points) rounded out the top five.

Junior Lily Paul was named MSU’s Athlete to Watch for the upcoming season. Paul claimed an 18th place finish at the NSIC Championships last season with a time of 23:51.40.

The Mavericks open their 2016 season on Friday, Sept. 2, as they take part in the Augie Twilight in Sioux Falls, S.D. The event is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
