Bethany Men’s Golf to begin fall season this weekend at Wittenberg Cup

The Bethany Lutheran College Men’s Golf team finished third at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championship last fall but are looking forward to this year’s season as they return several top performers from a year ago while adding talented newcomers to the team. The 2016 schedule includes great competition, which will benefit the Vikings as the season progresses in preparation for the UMAC championship at the Alexandria Golf Club in October.

Bethany will kick off the fall season on Friday August 26th at the Wittenberg Cup being held at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont, Minnesota. The Vikings will return to the course two-days later at the Midwest Collegiate Fall Open hosted by William Penn University at The Preserve at Rathbun in Moravia, Iowa. The Open will allow the Vikings to size up with regional competitors and set the tenor for the rest of the season.

The 2016 schedule will consist of nine total meets. Coach Daniel Mundahl and his team looked to create a very competitive schedule to prepare for the ultimate goal of winning the conference tournament and earning a spot in the National Tournament. The team will be competing at the Midwest Collegiate Fall Open this coming weekend followed by a super-regional meet in Illinois On September 17th and 18th. Before the UMAC Tournament and Viking Invite, Bethany will travel to Spencer Golf and Country Club to compete in the Buena Vista Triangle.
