Minnesota State Ranked Seventh in AFCA Preseason Poll

The Minnesota State football team claimed the seventh ranking American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Preseason Poll.

MSU, which finished the 2015 season with a 10-2 record, ranked 13th in the final AFCA poll last December.

The Mavericks are the highest rated NSIC team in the preseason poll. Minnesota Duluth received the 19th spot in the poll, with Sioux Falls and Augustana following in the 23rd and 25th spots, respectively. Bemidji State was receiving votes as well.

Minnesota State opens its season on Thursday, Sept. 1, as it takes on Minot State on the road. The opening kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
