The Minnesota State football team is set to open its annual spring practice on Saturday on the Blakeslee Stadium practice fields.
MSU finsihed the 2015 season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth straight season.
“We are excited to assemble the team for spring practice on March 19,” head coach Todd Hoffner said. “All of our practices are open to the public and we encourage spectators to come visit us. Our focus for spring football is to develop our younger and inexperienced football players through competitive drill situations.
“This offseason, our team has been working exceptionally hard. I am excited to have these young men lace up their cleats and buckle up their helmets in an effort to build a better Maverick. We will culminate our spring football practices with our annual spring game and pigskin barbecue on April 16.”
The Mavericks will take part in a total of 14 practices from March 19 through April 14. Four practices, including the first two, will be without pads. The Mavericks will also wear half pads in four games with no tackles. The remaining practices will feature full pads.
Minnesota State concludes its spring practice with the spring game that will take place at Blakeslee Stadium on Saturday, April 16. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
